This October will be quite festive at the Kent-Delord House Museum with upcoming Fall Fest events! Every weekend in October will be a different event. Here is a list of events, times, and descriptions.


Family Harvest Day

Monday October 8th (Columbus Day) 10-2

This day is a celebration of the North Country Harvest, 19th century style. There will be numerous activities and demonstrations to explore 19th century living including workshops about harvest soups, apple cider, apple butter, spinning and weaving by Shirley Deming and much more!


International Day of Rural Women

Saturday October 13th 10-2

In celebration of the United Nation’s International Day of Rural Women, the Museum is hosting special tours celebrating the rural women of Plattsburgh through the Kent-Delord House! Women will be offered free tours. There will also be a Women’s History trivia contest available at the Museum to win gift certificates from local businesses.


Old Fashioned Holiday Treats

Saturday October 20th 12-3

It is time to get into the Holiday spirit! The Museum would like to invite you all to learn more about what type of holiday treats were common in the Kent-Delord House. Jan McCormick will be hosting a workshop about Sweet Meats, which is an old fashioned candy. There will also be opportunities to explore the world of old fashioned cookies, and also to learn about the Delord Women’s Federal Cake.


Costume Workshop

Saturday October 27th 11-1

Come and learn more about how to make your own 19th century style dress! Sharon Bell will be hosting a workshop to provide tips and resources for those interested in reenacting clothing! Materials cost: $3.
